4. How Your Data Is Used
We use the limited data described above exclusively for the following purposes:
- App functionality: To browse, display, edit, organize, and manage your photos and videos on your device.
- Vault security: To encrypt and protect hidden media files locally on your device.
- App improvement: To analyze anonymous usage patterns and identify bugs through Firebase Analytics.
- Performance optimization: To monitor crash reports and improve App stability.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, targeted marketing, or any purpose other than improving PrimeGallery.
5. Secure Vault & Hidden Media
PrimeGallery includes a Secure Vault feature that allows you to hide and protect sensitive photos and videos.
5.1 How the Vault Works
- Media files moved to the Vault are encrypted using AES encryption and stored in a private, sandboxed directory on your device.
- Vault access is protected by a PIN, password, or biometric authentication (fingerprint) that you configure.
- Encrypted vault files are not accessible to other apps, file managers, or cloud backup services.
5.2 Vault Security Disclosures
- All encryption and decryption occurs locally on your device. Vault contents are never uploaded to any server.
- We do not have access to your Vault PIN, password, or encryption keys. If you forget your credentials, we cannot recover your hidden files.
- Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all Vault contents. Encrypted files stored in the App's private directory are removed by the Android operating system upon uninstallation.
- Device compromise: If your device is rooted, compromised, or physically accessed by an unauthorized party, the security of the Vault may be affected.
6. Data Storage & Offline Operation
- PrimeGallery operates primarily offline. All media browsing, editing, organization, and vault operations are performed locally on your device.
- No cloud storage or sync: Your photos and videos are never uploaded to cloud servers operated by us.
- Local database: The App uses a local Room database to store metadata such as album groupings, favorites, and vault references. This database resides entirely on your device.
- Preferences: App settings and preferences are stored locally using Android DataStore and EncryptedSharedPreferences.
The only network activity is the transmission of anonymous analytics data to Firebase, as described in Section 2.2.
